Richie, 77, was performing at Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, Minnesota, on June 24 when he began feeling dizzy during his performance of the high-energy hit “Dancing on the Ceiling.” After taking a seat onstage, Richie continued the show and performed “Three Times a Lady” at the piano before stepping away for an unexpected intermission. The performance was ultimately cut short when Richie was unable to continue.

The incident occurred during the opening night of Richie’s Sing A Song All Night Long tour with Earth, Wind & Fire. Following the Minnesota performance, two subsequent concerts were postponed under doctors’ advice that Richie rest and return to full health.
