Matthew Continues To Support His Tennis Goals With Boost Oxygen

The tennis action at this year’s U.S. Open at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Flushing, New York was amazing. Besides Novak Djokovic going for a historic calendar year Grand Slam, youth was served throughout the tournament as we saw young players ascending to amazing performance levels – particularly in the women’s bracket.

Someday soon, could Mathew Cameron be one of them? Matt supports his tennis performance, recovery and results by implementing Boost Oxygen and he and his family share some insights on their tennis journey:

“My name is Matthew and I’m currently a sophomore in High School.  I’m also a junior tennis player and have been playing for nearly three years.  Over the past year and a half I broke into the top 20 in the Mid-Atlantic Section my section in the 14’s – ranking as high as 438th in the nation.  I recently aged up into the 16’s age group and since my injury I will outline below, haven’t been playing in too many tournaments.  I will be starting back soon and with my Boost Oxygen!

Matthew: I had an injury in April/ May that set me back, so I had to take some time to recover and rehabilitate.  Over the summer I spent some time with my Grandparents in Florida and trained roughly seven hours a day on both the technical and tactical side.  Technique with my swing pattern, body positioning, and footwork.  Tactical side really honing in on precision and court awareness.   During the summer my focus was on getting healthy and fully recovering from injury but also taking advantage of periodization techniques.  Young athletes tend to burn out and their body’s break down over time playing in tournaments every weekend to chase points and increase their sectional and national ranking.  As I mature and increase my knowledge about the game and training methods, it’s important to listen to your body and take breaks when needed and implement training blocks.

What does a parent do to support an up-and-coming tennis player?

Dad: As a young athlete myself growing up playing multiple sports – I know how much it means to a player to have support from your family and friends in their corner.  Tennis is unique because it’s an individual sport and very tough physically, mentally, and emotionally.  You don’t get that kind of pressure with too many other sports.  As a parent I know I play a key role in Matthew’s development depending heavily on my own involvement, encouragement, and support.  From helping our young player keeping the sport fun, transitioning to learning and creating a competitive environment all while mentoring and nurturing him to develop mental and emotional skills.  All in all, the role of a parent is to encourage and support their athlete no matter the outcome.

How does the Cameron Family implement Boost?

Matthew: Whenever I train outdoors, I look at the air quality from an app or the weather to see what the quality of air is I’m inhaling during practice or training.  Most of the time, the air quality is horrible and there’s a pollen, humidity, or weed warning.  That’s when Boost Oxygen really makes an impact during my training.  Between rest periods I know I’m inhaling 95% oxygen that will assist in my recovery periods so I’m able to recover faster and train harder.   There are so many more pollutants indoors so it’s a no brainer to use boost between rest periods to maximize my results and progress.

Family (Mom and Dad):  We are a family that trusts Boost and would have it no other way.  From daily walks when it gets stuffy outside to actual training (running, weightlifting, etc) we grab a bottle of Boost Oxygen to support performance, enhance recovery and brain function!  We work at home or an office building that has chemical pollutants and allergens in the air from carpets and cleaning supplies to name a few.  This is an ideal situation and reason to have Boost.  The bottles are very transportable so it’s easy to carry in a pocketbook, briefcase, or bookbag.”
