You know those times when you hear something so impossible you have to see it to believe it? We had exactly that feeling when we heard that Ray Williams broke the world record for raw squat with when he squatted 1,053 lbs. “Raw” means he doesn’t used any compression squat suits or wraps, which can take some of the load and allow a lifter to move more weight. We found the video to prove it — and we’re still in awe of this man’s strength.

You and I would not be able to hold that weight on our body, let alone squat with it on our backs to full depth. You can follow Ray Williams’ journey with his regularly updated Facebook page here.
